Stannah Straight Stairlift — Maryland, DC & Virginia

Stannah straight stairlifts are our most popular model across the region — and one of the most widely installed straight stairlifts in the world. They fit on stairways of virtually any length or width, including the narrow staircases common in Baltimore rowhouses and DC townhomes. No stairway is too short or too long.

Three straight stairlift models are available: the Siena 600, Siena One, and Starla 600. All are stocked in our Baltimore warehouse and available for installation within the same week as your free in-home estimate. Every unit comes with a lifetime warranty on the motor, and all Siena and Starla models include a power-folding footrest as standard — an essential safety feature for users who rely on a walker or rollator.

Installation is free — included in the price with no hidden fees — and performed by our own in-house, factory-certified technicians.

Stannah Curved Stairlift — Custom-Built for Any Staircase

If your staircase has a bend, landing turn, multiple flights, or a spiral, a curved stairlift is the right solution. Stannah curved stairlift rails are custom-engineered to the exact millimeter dimensions of your specific staircase using a digital photo measuring system — no two curved stairlifts are the same.

Before manufacturing begins, you receive a formal rail design drawing showing the exact fit and shape of the rail in your stairway. You approve it before anything is made — guaranteed to fit. Every curved stairlift comes with a lifetime warranty on both the motor and the rail.

Three Stannah curved models are available: the Siena 260, Starla 260, and Sadler 260. We have installed curved stairlifts on every staircase type imaginable across Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia — including tight spirals, inside and outside turns, and complex multi-landing configurations. Come to our Baltimore showroom to see a curved stairlift in action.

Stannah Outdoor Stairlift — Built for Maryland, DC & Virginia Weather

The Stannah 320 is purpose-built for outdoor use — engineered from the ground up for exposure to the elements, not a standard indoor unit with a weatherproof cover added on. Every component is designed to handle the full range of Mid-Atlantic weather: summer heat, winter cold, rain, humidity, and UV exposure.

UV-resistant plastic seating will not fade or crack in the sun. All metal components are double powder-coated to prevent rust. The Stannah 320 is a stock item available for quick installation on straight outdoor stairways — ideal for front steps, exterior decks, and porch access.

Used Stairlifts — Maryland, DC & Virginia

As one of the largest stairlift dealers in the Mid-Atlantic, Bedco Mobility maintains the largest inventory of reconditioned stairlifts in the region — always in stock for Maryland, Washington D.C., and Northern Virginia.

Every used stairlift is methodically reconditioned before installation: new batteries, full mechanical inspection, and a Bedco Mobility parts and labor warranty included. Used straight, curved, and outdoor stairlifts are all available. A particularly cost-effective option: a reconditioned chairtop paired with newly manufactured curved rails built to your staircase — the quality and fit of a custom curved stairlift at a meaningfully lower price point.

No-interest financing through Synchrony is also available for new units. If budget is a concern, ask us about both options at your free in-home estimate — we will always tell you honestly which makes more sense for your situation.

Q: How much does a stairlift cost in Maryland, DC, or Virginia?

Stairlift prices vary depending on the type of staircase (straight, curved, or outdoor), the brand and model, and whether you choose a new or reconditioned unit. Straight stairlifts are generally less expensive than curved ones, which are custom-built to your specific staircase.

The most accurate way to get a price is a free in-home estimate — we measure your stairway, discuss your needs, and give you a clear itemized quote with no pressure. We will also always tell you whether a used stairlift is a good fit for your situation, which can lower the cost significantly. No-interest financing through Synchrony is also available for new units.

Call (410) 825-1440 (Baltimore) or (301) 585-0700 (DC/Maryland suburbs) to schedule your free estimate.

Q: What is the difference between a straight and curved stairlift?

A straight stairlift is designed for stairways that go in a single direction from bottom to top with no bends or turns. It is simpler to manufacture, available as a stock item, and can be installed quickly — often within the same week as your estimate.

A curved stairlift is designed for stairways that have a bend, landing turn, multiple flights, or a spiral. The rail is custom-manufactured to the exact dimensions of your specific staircase — no two curved stairlifts are alike. It takes longer to produce but is guaranteed to fit your stairway perfectly. Every curved stairlift comes with a lifetime warranty on both the motor and the rail.

Q: Can a stairlift be installed on a narrow staircase?

Yes. Modern stairlift technology has advanced significantly, and today’s units fit on stairways that would have been impossible to serve even a decade ago. Baltimore rowhouses and DC townhomes frequently have narrower-than-standard staircases, and we have installed stairlifts in hundreds of them. If you are unsure whether your stairway qualifies, a free in-home estimate will answer that definitively.

Q: How long does stairlift installation take?

Straight stairlift installation typically takes half a day. Curved stairlift installation takes approximately one full day. In both cases the stairlift is fully operational at the end of the installation visit, and we provide a complete demonstration and hands-on training before we leave.

Q: Does Medicare or insurance cover stairlifts?

Standard Medicare does not cover stairlifts, as they are classified as home modifications rather than durable medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans and Medicaid waiver programs may offer partial coverage depending on your state and plan — it is worth checking with your plan administrator.

Long-term care insurance policies sometimes include home modification benefits that can apply to stairlifts. We recommend reviewing your policy or speaking with your insurance broker. We can provide documentation of your purchase for reimbursement purposes if needed.

Q: Can I rent a stairlift instead of buying one?

Yes. Bedco Mobility offers stairlift rentals throughout Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia. Rental is a practical option for short-term needs — post-surgery recovery, for example — or when circumstances are uncertain. Our rental units are always brand new, and they can be converted to a permanent purchase if your needs change. Call us to ask about current rental availability and pricing.

Q: What brands of stairlifts does Bedco Mobility sell?

Bedco Mobility is an authorized dealer for two brands: Stannah and Bruno. Both are consistently rated the top two stairlift manufacturers by Consumer Affairs and The Savvy Senior.

Stannah, founded in 1867, is a family-owned company and one of the most recognized stairlift brands in the world, with over 750,000 customers globally. Bruno is the only major stairlift brand manufactured in the USA and offers unique features including a vertical rail system and heavy-duty weight capacity options.

We carry both brands at our Baltimore showroom — you can try them side by side before making a decision.

Q: Is the stairlift installation included in the price?

Yes. Installation is always included in the price of the stairlift — there are no hidden installation fees. All installations are performed by Bedco Mobility’s own in-house, factory-certified technicians. We never subcontract. Every installation includes a full demonstration and hands-on training.

Q: Do you sell used stairlifts?

Yes. As one of the largest stairlift dealers in the Mid-Atlantic, Bedco Mobility maintains the largest inventory of reconditioned stairlifts in the region. Every used unit is reconditioned with new batteries, fully inspected, and backed by a Bedco Mobility parts and labor warranty. Used straight, curved, and outdoor stairlifts are available. Ask about used options at your free in-home estimate.
